    dogaholic
so I am now on the brink of my second week at the best job ever. I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing, so I work and work and work and then I find more things to work on... better to do something than nothing at all, even if it is just writing endless amounts of notes to myself about things I should do or want to do but do not know how to do yet...
My first "event" was this weekend: Superheroes at the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne. Appreciating our canine bood donors. 2 hours, 60 dogs, 3 Dove Lewis IPA's, and about 135 people later, it was over and a big big success (I cannot take credit for planning, but I sure did smile at lots of people and pet just about every canine there)...
In my second week, it is time to get down and dirty... its time to mend relations with some of our volunteers who want to run for the hills and never speak Dove's name again (why? I am really not sure, but no one will tell me either...sounds fishy, huh?).
I have always had a special place in my heart for angry people who want me dead (didn't I just quit that job?)
I apologize to all those who want me to be better at corresponding. I suck, it is true. Deal with it. I love my job. I also love you, but you probably won't fire me for being bad at what I do (or will you?).
Long story short: I am back on the map, but I sense that I am becoming somewhat of a workaholic. Since there are dogs where I work technically I can be called a dogaholic (and I like the sound of the better if I must be called A holic).
We have a third dog living at our house, her name is Turtle and she has short legs and really long ears and barks like a seal. For the record: she is not ours, she just lives here in the basement, kind of like our roommate, Ryan.

    on the brink..
Fitting title..I had my second interview at DLEAH today. It went. I have no idea what the executive director thought of me other than the concerns he voiced over my lack of volunteer coordinating experience. So, there. I know I would be awesome in the position, but it is officially "out of my hands". Bring it on, buddy. more to follow...
we have a LARGE fish tank in our dining room now...my favorite fish is the big orange one with the bulbous eye sockets that beats on the other fish. Reggie the cat has not yet figured out how to get throught the glass (YET being the operative word...unfortunately, in our household "you touch it I break it" seems to be the philosophy my pets live by. They sure are cute though (when they are sleeping.)

On another note, I think that my computer is on the brink of death...it just keeps acting really strange and flashing at me when I don't want it to. Its strange: when your computer finally develops a personality, that's when its time to get rid of it. Balls.

    RamJam?
For lack of a better subject, this is what I chose. It fits.
So today I RamJammed (see?) a bunch into one tiny little collection of hours...
    *Home Depot (teapot) for paint
*dog park for play (where Gino finally got his little red ass kicked by a big white german shepherd)
*basement for using paint (painted window trim finally, brightens things up)
*basement for 5 loads of laundry (still not done...we are very dirty)
*bathtub for dog (and cat, yipes!) washing
*kitchen for delicious Tin Shed-esque scramble (made by the resident chef)
*back to basement for painting (little TV tray art project)
*Kitchen for cooking dinner and juicing lemons for my NEW FAVORITE DRINK:
    1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon (or more!) cayenne pepper
    Stevia leaf extract to taste
    8oz (or more!) water
    YUM YUM YUM. SpIcY!!!!
    yeehaw
with the leftover time, I will shower and prep more for my interview...don't ask about it until after Thursday afternoon at 2pm please.

    RamJam.

    hurts so good
I know this girl who wants affection so bad she will cuddle with a hissing cat who is swatting at her eyes and cutting her ears with its claws.
She just punched me in the jaw with her paw and then head-butted me for good measure.
    I hugged her anyway.
Now she has her head jammed between the couch and the wall.

Last night I got yellow on green. And yellow on my favorite sweats. And yellow on my sister's wall. And yellow all over my hands. It was pretty. And productive. Then I took a shower.

Round two of the monkey parade
I don't know what I though would happen, but I was hoping SOMETHING might save us from the inauguration of W for the second time. But, here I sit listening to the same speech he always gives about solidarity and steadfast strength and the "soul" of a nation, freedom's cause, emerging threats, America's firm resolve...blah blah blah.
I wanna puke. Or move to Mexico. Maybe I'll just go sell lotion.
Thank you for ruining everybody's morning, Mr. President.

Today was a weird day...Everyone I came across was just a little off and all I wanted to do was come home. Here I am.
I just found out that my snowshoeing trip planned for Saturday with my Little Sister was canceled due to NO SNOW. Balls. It is January. Oh well, I guess we need a plan B... any ideas?
And now the cat is in the bathtub beating on the white dog...who is running for her life...sounds like its bedtime!

    Transforming the Dungeon
Today I scrubbed cobwebs and spider eggs off of the basement windows. This is my preliminary attempt at making it presentable enough down there for a friend, his snake, and his fish to move in in February. We'll see if we can do this... It seems easy enough to PICTURE the end result...One of the exciting things about this process: we got a $10 dollar door from the Rebuilding Center today (LOVE that place)...
Anyway, I am finally part of the LiveJournal craze!
    Stay tuned for more messages...
Time to go, I have a white dog drooling on my holiday slippers and a cat that wants me dead unless he eats within 10 seconds.

    Current Mood: calm
